ACBBA Services
Fundraising opportunities
One of the aims of Acbba is to develop proposals to attract funding support and
engage members in the delivery of projects. Currently the Sied project is providing
funding to 26 community organisations covering the London boroughs of Islington,
Camden and Lewisham. We recently completed another assignment delivered by our members
and have just submitted a new proposal for the provision of business support to
Black and minority ethnic entrepreneurs in the Islington area.
Networking
Acbba organises a monthly meeting of community based business advisors to share
the experience of providing business advice in different localities and to different
communities and to discuss how best to support the needs of specific business clients.
The monthly meeting provides an excellent opportunity to develop contacts in an
informal, supportive environment.
Continuous Professional Development
In addition to the training provided by our partners, Acbba also organises workshops
and presentations on topics of interest to business advisers and the management
of community organisations. We also liaise with the Institute of Business Advisors
and other bodies offering training and support services to business advisers.
Information
We publish a monthly newsletter distributed by email to all our members, partners
and anybody wishing to receive it. It contains information on general issues of
interest to businesspeople, news about the business support activities carried out
by members and information on resources, tools and other matters relevant to business
advisors.
Representational Role
We strongly believe in the establishment of business support rooted at community
level, with business advisors based within community organisations, as the most
effective way of promoting enterprise development at grass root level. We are determined
to gain broad support for these concepts, including funding support, from development
agencies and government departments.
